The Health Benefits Of Garlic
By Linda Tremer
Garlic has a reputation for causing bad breath and body
odor. But the benefits of garlic are so numerous that a little odor is
worth it. Besides you can eliminate the odor.
Eat an apple and then brush your teeth to eliminate garlic breath.
Another trick, after eating garlic chew some parsley. For the garlic
smell that seeps right out of your pores eat parsley or anything that
contains chlorophyll. Chlorophyll will eliminate the odor. If you eat
garlic every day use chlorophyll every day and no one will smell you. If
the odor of garlic is something you don’t want to chance buy garlic
supplements at the health food store.
Garlic has so many health benefits, I’m sure I’ll miss a few. But here
goes. First remember that cooked garlic does not contain anywhere near
the health benefits of raw garlic.
Garlic is a potent anti viral compound. If you are getting a cold, sore
throat or the flu eat a few cloves of raw garlic to kill those pesky
viruses. Some people believe that to cure a cold or the flu you should
coat your feet with olive oil then cut a clove of garlic and rub the
garlic on your feet. Put your socks on and go to bed.
Garlic is said to kill worms in your body. Garlic is much gentler on
your liver than the over the counter remedy for pinworms. You can give
garlic to your dog as a de-wormer.
If you have athlete’s foot or toenail fungus rub the toenail with raw
garlic juice twice a day. Make sure the juice gets between the nail and
skin right on the fungus and also on the nail. You could use a foot bath
made with several crushed cloves of garlic and water. Soak you feet in
the bath. This is not as effective as the raw garlic juice.
Garlic lowers cholesterol and it lowers blood pressure. Garlic decreases
the stickiness of blood platelets. Garlic is a blood thinner so your
chances of having a blood clot are greatly reduced. Your circulation is
improved by eating garlic.
You can buy a tincture of garlic, olive oil and mullein for ear aches.
And that’s not all, garlic is a natural decongestant.
We’re not through yet; garlic has been called the “Russian penicillin.”
It was used in World War II to prevent bacterial infections in the
troops.
And studies have shown that garlic can reduce the
risk of cancer of the colon and the stomach. One or more servings of
garlic a week resulted in a 35 percent decrease in the risk of colon
cancer.
Remember, a clove a day keeps the doctor away. And, better raw if at
all.
